Glass is beautiful but...
Although glass can be one of the most beautiful and useful components of architecture, the use of glass also has a number of problems.
Glare, heat build-up and high energy costs in the summer, heat loss in the winter, fading of draperies, carpets and furniture from UV rays, security problems, grafitti magnets, potential earthquake/hurricane hazards, privacy concerns can all have an obvious negative impact.
Window Film's Many Wonders...
For just one type of material, it's amazing when you think about it, as to how window film can have so many uses. Depending upon design characteristics of the film:
It's used as a very vibrant and colorful art medium using computer-aided design techniques.
By using frosted film, it emulates etched glass with the added advantage of its removability.
By using a frosted or metalic treatment, it provides privacy or conceals an unsightly outdoor view.
By absorbing certain wavelengths from the sun, it can absorb heat and/or refect it back to the outdoors
By absorbing the sun's ultraviolet rays, it can greatly reduce fading of fabric, store displays, etc.
It helps prevent breaking and entering into a building by making it very difficult to get in even after a window is broken (the glass can break, but the film won't!)
It provides safety to occupants by preventing shards of glass from flying after an earthquake or other natural disaser.
By using a thicker, transparent film with less tack, an invisible layer can be applied to glass to prevent damaging graffiti.
Built to Last...
The materials that we use are built to last for a long time. They are extremely fade-resistant and many of them are UV treated for long-term sun exposure. Depending on the manufacturer, materials are warranted for a period of at least five years for inside installations and at least one year for outside ones.

Window Glass Enhancements
Reduce Energy Costs
In contrast to more expensive technologies, installing solar window film is the most cost-effective way for businesses and home owners to immediately control and lower their short- and long-term energy costs.
Depending on the type of film and the degree of installation difficulty, the average cost to install can be anywhere from $5 to $9 per square foot. In addition, a large number of utilities are offering rebates or other financial incentives to encourage the use of solar film to reduce power needs.

Reduce Premature Fading
There are window treatments specifically formulated to reduce fading of fabric, window displays, merchandise and furniture. Fading is caused by ultraviolet light, visible light and heat. Harmful radiation is constantly pouring through your windows.
Specially-formulated window film helps to fight these problems by screening out up to 99% of ultraviolet radiation out of your home or business and dramatically reducing the solar heat and visible light that wash out the color of your valuables.
Different window treatments stop different amounts of visible light, solar heat and virtually all of the ultraviolet energy between 300 - 380 nanometers. It’s like sunscreen for your home or business. It's ensuring that the life and beauty of your interior is preserved for a much longer period of time.

Increase Security and Safety
Glass is easily the weakest link in a building's security. The FBI’s "Unified Crime Report" states that almost 70 percent of all burglaries involve forced entry through a window or door. To a thief, a broken window is the easist access to any structure...and an open door to the valuables locked inside.
By making a window more difficult to shatter and holding the broken glass firmly within the window frame after breaking, illegal access is much more difficult and less likely to occur. Because film is extremely strong and pliable, it doesn't shatter like glass. Safety film helps deter break-ins, theft and even personal injury. Specially-designed window film for security purposes is your constant, invisible security guard, offering you much better protection around the clock.
A related product, "anti-graffiti film", protects the underlying glass by taking the brunt of vandalism damage
due to scratches and acid-etch damage. It can be peeled off and re-applied - all the while protecting your underlying
window.
